Renal Network

The overall aim of the East Midlands Renal Network (EMRN) is to continually improve kidney care for patients and carers living with kidney disease.

The objectives of the EMRN are focused around four main elements:

1. Safe therapy

2. Improving quality

3. Improving the patient experience

4. Value for money

A fundamental aspect is to ensure that people receive the right care in the right place at the right time.

Patients and carers play an important part in developing and implementing the networks aims and we have a number of patients on our renal groups who provide advice and experience to various projects.

It is recognised that prevention and detection measures are as important as the actual care people receive and the networks strategy covers the whole of the patient pathway. The network also seeks to support commissioners in the quality, innovation and productivity agenda for renal services in order to deliver key health outcomes and drive up patient safety, quality and experience.

Networks in the NHS are changing: The East Midlands Cardiovascular Network in its current form will cease to exist as of March 31, 2013. Strategic clinical networks, overseen by the NHS Commissioning Board, are being established to take over the role and responsibilities of this Network. This website will not be updated after March 31, 2013.
