The Network
About us
The East Midlands Cardiovascular Network brings together professionals (clinicians and managers) and organisations, unconstrained by boundaries, to focus on the development and delivery of evidence-based, best practice care. We aim to ensure that patients receive the best care and treatment available, wherever they live in the region.
Our Network is known as a 'managed clinical network', which is a partnership of healthcare professionals and organisations involved in the planning and provision of care for a particular condition, in a specific geographical area. Managed clinical networks have funded leadership support and defined governance structures. These networks aim to improve clinical quality and outcomes of care for patients.
Each and every year the East Midlands Cardiovascular Network focuses on a programme of high impact improvement projects which save lives, reduce disability and ensure the effective use of cardiovascular resources for our four million population across the region. The Network covers Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire. The Network is clinically led, with patient involvement at the heart of its work.
Our role includes:
- Leading programmes of quality improvement
- Promoting safe and sustainable, clinical and cost effective care
- Supporting innovation
Networks in the NHS are changing: The East Midlands Cardiovascular Network in its current form will cease to exist as of March 31, 2013. Strategic clinical networks, overseen by the NHS Commissioning Board, are being established to take over the role and responsibilities of this Network. This website will not be updated after March 31, 2013.
